Early Learning & Family Programs

  1. Aboriginal Head Start Program – A program where parents are supported in their role as their child’s first and most influential teacher.
  2. Aldergrove Family Place Drop In Program – A free play-based program for children ages 0-6 and their caregivers.
  3. City of Langley Recreation, Culture and Community Services – Offers a variety of recreational programming for young children and their caregivers including arts and crafts, swimming, and parent-tot drop in programs.
  4. Community Kitchens – For parents and caregivers of children up to the age of six years. Gather to learn basic kitchen skills that helps provide for the family while saving money.
  5. Early Learning Program –A program for refugee and newcomer children and their caregivers who have multiple barriers to integration.
  6. Family Place South and Family Place North – A free play-based program for children ages 0-6 years and their caregivers. Located in Langley City and Willoughby Early Years Centre.
  7. Little Feathers Playgroup – Aboriginal playgroup for children newborn to six years. Together learn about Aboriginal Culture from a Kwantlen Elder through traditional teachings, drumming, songs, stories, circle time snack and more.
  8. Fraser Valley Regional Library – Offers a variety of programs and services for families with young children, including borrowing of library materials, and activities such as Family Story time for toddlers and preschoolers.
  9. Mother Goose Program - A group experience for parents and their babies and young children.   This program focuses on the pleasure and power of using rhymes, songs and stories together.
  10. PALS and IPALS Programs - PALS (Parents as Literacy Supporters) and IPALS (Immigrant Parents as Literacy Supporters) are family literacy programs that provides parents and caregivers new strategies to encourage learning with their preschool and kindergarten aged children.
  11. Program in the Park – A drop in program offered through the summer at various local parks. Children’s activities and parent support and information is offered.
  12. Ready Set Learn and Welcome to Kindergarten – These programs are offered in all Langley Elementary Schools for 3 and 4 year olds. This program assists children in feeling comfortable and welcome in their neighborhood school in addition to providing activities that support vocabulary, numeracy and fine motor development through play.
  13. Spanish Family Power – Parents of young children are provided resources, information, support and activities to address various needs of the participants. .
  14. StrongStart Early Learning Programs – A free, play-based early learning program for children ages 0-6 and their caregivers. Offered at 9 Elementary School locations throughout Langley.
  15. Township of Langley, Parks and Recreation – Offers a variety of recreational programming for young children and their caregivers including arts and crafts, swimming and parent-tot drop in programs.
  16. Willoughby Early Years Centre – Offers a variety of programs and services for children ages newborn to six years and their families, including drop in play groups, early years preschool, StrongStart, cultural programs, recreational programs and more.
